About Us

Avacayam is an employment program for people with disabilities. In early 2001, our work started with recycling temple flowers into holi colors and agarbatis, and today we have a full team of weavers and tailors with disabilities with the capacity to fullfill large orders.

Avacayam pioneers recycling by transforming discarded fabric into customized rolls, creating new avenue in the world of fashion design. Our technique redefines sustainability, weaving innovation into every thread.

Hand loom weaving, an ancient craft, intertwines tradition and innovation, as skilled artisans meticulously craft fabric, imbuing each thread with history and culture. Through rhythmic movements, they create timeless textiles, preserving heritage with every intricate design.

Our unique approach to sustainability by repurposing waste plastic into versatile rolls, empowering designers to craft  eco-friendly bags and various products. This innovative approach promotes creativity while reducing environmental impact.

When our program started in 2001, never did we think that one day we will recycled waste plastic into bags and more suprisingly that the people would actually carry our bags.

Avacayam is our final step of the work, which is creating a Circular Economy. By creating an employment program we actualized our primary intention of making people with disabilities be included in everyday life. This happened when they are earning and independent, leading a dignified life through work such as this one. They are engaged in work which results not just in monthly income but also the satisfaction of making something beautiful like bags made from canvas and cloth. Canvas is a material which brings modern aesthetics to the bags that it is moulded into.
